PUBLISHING RESIDENCY — “sex & place vol 5: Kitchen Counter” by Kexin Hao, Adriano Wilfert Jensen and Andrea Zavala Folache

Sunday 19 July, 12:00-18:00 | free entry, registration required | main language: English

Have you played house?
Where is the kid when mother is at a gallery opening?
What if your studio is also the nursery?
How do you make a polyamorous household work when you have kids?
How do you navigate intimacy when you share a home with your child?

When we played house as children, we rarely imagined such scenarios — yet many of us are living them now. As traditional family structures dissolve, new configurations of family and parenthood are emerging: among freelancers, artists, part-time workers, and queer people navigating intimacy, care, and creativity all under one roof.

As part of her Publishing Residency at Page Not Found, Kexin Hao invites you to “sex & place vol. 5: Kitchen Counter” — a one-day workshop organised by Andrea Zavala Folache and Adriano Wilfert Jensen.

“sex and place” is a series of workshops and publications exploring score-based and semi-anonymous writing as a tool for articulating shared concerns. Starting from a physical warm up, the day will continue with (semi-anonymous) erotic and existential writing, reading for each other, to then compose a songbook(let), which will be riso-printed and performed wet off the press.

Andrea and Adriano are artists whose practice bridges dance, performance, and publishing. They have engaged with themes of sexuality, family, and new modes of care. Kexin Hao, artist in residence at Page Not Found, works with performance, the collective body, and health disciplines. She invites Andrea and Adriano to co-facilitate a workshop to experiment the connection between performance and publication through a participatory and bodily approach.

Page Not Found’s Publishing Residency supports local artists and designers in their publishing research and experiments, while offering time, space, and a professional context for their practice. The Residency is kindly supported by Gemeente Den Haag.
