From June-July, Billytown is part of the artist-run residency exchange program Ghost (A Guest + a Host= a Ghost), initiated by Atelier Vivarium. Billytown is welcoming two artists from the artist-run space Vivarium for a studio exchange with two Billytown artists. The project is based on a simple principle: artists from different countries exchange their studios and their living spaces for a month. They do not meet physically, but only through their respective work and living spaces – they are like ghosts for each other.
Ida Guibert and François Feutrie have swapped their studios in Rennes (France), with the Billytown studio members Yukari Nakamichi and ah Wei ya (Vincent Wong), who will develop their work at Vivarium during the same period in Rennes. Ida and François spent this residency working on the Dutch landscape. Ida works on the relationship between technology and non-native plants in preservation systems, while François is developing a project Alluvium, through some parallels between hydrology and anatomy, from the marshes at the mouth of the Rhine river.
You are invited to come and see the results of their research during a 2-day exhibition. This exchange programme is supported by Stroom Den Haag, Institut français Paris and Région Bretagne, DRAC Bretagne, Ambassade des Pays-Bas en France and the Institut français (NL).
