Aalt van de Glind: We Rose From Your Bed With The Sun In Our Head at Parterretrap

“We Rose From Your Bed With The Sun In Our Head” presents work by artist and photographer Aalt van de Glind. His work focuses on his own life and surroundings, using analog photography to shape his subjects.
An ongoing project is the series “Tired” (2018–present), in which he follows his girlfriend, who suffers from chronic fatigue. Aalt often photographs her sleeping on the couch under her favorite blanket. The images have a timeless and vulnerable quality and reflect his girlfriend’s disrupted sleep pattern, for whom day and night blend seamlessly. This series is characterized by the soft gray prints, which he creates with old, exhausted chemistry in the darkroom.
Aalt prefers to present his work in the form of installations that engage with the space in which they are presented, often featuring photographs of various sizes. This is also the case in Parterretrap, where he brings together various series, photographs, and tests, and where the intimacy and everyday nature of his work beautifully complements the context of the apartment; a space where life is lived, where you can relax, and where you can retreat for a moment when you need to.
